Training A Puppy
On these video's I will show you how I quickly get a puppy on it's way to being a great dog. I cover handling, create training, bathing, and walking on a lesh for the first time or properly. Puppies in my care display how capable of good behavior a young dog can be when it is required of them. I hope to help you understand how a puppy, though sweet and cute, is a canine and so thinks like a canine. Notice how quickly the puppies in these videos respond to me and also how much they like me.

Nails
I like to keep fairly short nails on my dogs and puppies. So often I will see other people's dogs and their nails are much longer than I think even the dogs want them! If you start handling your dogs feet at an early age they will grow so accustomed to it that when it is time for a trim, it won't be a problem. If you have a dog who is more mature (one year or more), you may have more trouble with this. I will be adding video of me triming a dog like that, at a later date. For now this video is for those of you who have puppies, and those who have a dog that is fine with you handling it's feet. I want you to pay attention to "how" I require the dog to get it's nails trimmed. Calm assertive energy assures the dog that I know what I am doing. By not allowing the dog to move away or mouth my hand, makes it stop.

Teaching A Young Dog To Walk On A Leash - Part 1
On this video I will show you how I took a 6 month old female Border Collie who had never been taught to walk on a leash, to walking beautifully in a matter of minutes. The dog I am working with happens to be a very insecure little girl. She just needed someone who would not "give in" to that, and show her that she can walk on a leash. Even if your dog is the opposite type and is trying to pull away from you, you will have the same results I have with this dog if you just stay in control. Learn from me how to display a strong leadership energy which helps the dog to trust you. Notice how I am not affected by her negative behavior, but I do provide correction when needed. The reason this dog responds so quickly is because of how I handle her. If I had weakened or gotten nervous she would have felt that and things would have gone down hill very fast.

Leave It
Once your pet understands that "Leave It" means to disconnect, let it go, or give it up, you will experience so many different scenarios when you will use it. I begin teaching the behavior by using the dog's mouth contact. I add movement to the item being used for training, and then can apply "Leave It" to anything I want the dog to disengage from. I have taught dogs to stop chasing tires, barking excessively, offending other dogs, taking food off of tables, counters and plates, even licking the leather seats of a client's car! Having a dog that will "Leave It" can save a dropped food item or more importantly can keep your dog from eating something harmful. On the video you will see how quickly the dogs respond to the technique I use to require they leave something alone. My dog Tuff will demonstrate how easy it is to have him release things to me because I taught him that "Leave It" means leave it!
